Lots of options for Youtube. It will take avi, mov, wmv and a few more I think. Just need to keep the file size to below 100 meg and the time to below ten minutes if you don't have a directors account.

Youtube asks for a frame size of 320x240, but if you look at it, the screen in the viewer is actually scaled down again. My suggestion would be to pick a frame size of 425x318. It will scale down nicely.

If you have any knowledge of compression, turn on a few filters to sharpen your image before you export it. Most times when youtube sends stuff through it softens edges tons so anything you can do to sharpen them before hand usually helps.

If you don't have any compression knowledge either use windows movie maker to make your file or download windows media encoder from microsoft... should be free... and try it there. WMVs work well.
