View Full Version : PGL Contracts ?

Will PGL give out contracts to top teams so they stay in their gaming league like MLG ?
PGL will eventually be sponsoring their top teams, we already work closely with the top teams in the league..... another thing we are doing is bringing in sponsors not to just look at the league but at the players as well, giving them more opportunities for sponsorship
Being a fairly new league however we have to separate our elite teams and players and we have to find out who is in this league for the long run and who is going to make a name for themselves

Maybe at first you should give out contracts that pay for travel and hotel costs.

For players, contracts are the most important thing. Wayyyy more important then prize money.
So yeah starting small but at least helping the players is definitely a great idea to expand the league !

i think that paying for the whole flight would be a little expensive with the rise of gas (flying is effected too)

I think a hotel or minor flight sponsor would really help some people and is the main problem why people can't attend. I'm positive their are lots of people on these forums that would attend every PGL with a little help:cool:

Do the Year End finals In Regina. and if not in Regina Winnipeg because its in the middle of Canada that way it could make the travel time for the teams less.

Shouldn't it be in Toronto where there are more people, more gamers, is easier to fly to, and is in the middle of the country, among other things? Don't be fooled, it is called eastern but it's really in the middle.

yea but we think that Toronto gets a lot of publicity, they get MLG as well every year, so they get that big tournament as well, we would like to spread it to other cities to give them the chance....... we are going to host the finals in the biggest gaming city and prolly be able to change it up as well..... so we will give Vancouver their chace to show if they can host a finals, if its not going as well and the other cities have bigger turnouts we will host there instead....

seriously ontario is the only place that has the right to hold finals in anything of gaming. Half of all the MAIN TEAMS in PGL are in Ontario so that really is bad that you put on the other side of the world for them. I agree with whoever said put it in the middle like regina or manitoba but NOT VANCOUVER.

also this year for convenience purposes, seeing as how I personally have to drive all this equipment to every location it helps doing the whole east at one time....... whereever you guys want the finals for next year though its easily doable......... its your league, i just put all the info together to build it

k first off i live in winnipeg, just so you all know. AND as you could assume i would love to have the finals in winnipeg. but not just because i live here, as EVERYONE is saying Vancouver would be a bad place to have it as anyone who lives in Manitoba or anywhere further east is pretty unlikely to show up as it will cost way too much. I think putting it somewhere in the middle makes the most sense, probably Manitoba because it is right beside ontario (where most gamers are) but is also close to regina (where i know there are lots of other gamers) + there are good players in Winnipeg. Just please not Vancouver? :)

if PGL is going to end up sponsoring their top teams, similarly to MLG.. maybe not this season, but in the future.. then it wouldnt necissarily matter where it was because the top teams wouldn't have to worry about the cost nearly as much!

just a random thought how about u give the winning team of one event a discount or something for the next event.
ex. The 4v4 team that wins PGL T.O will get free entry to the next PGL Event.

Normally what we do is give only the first place team/person free entry into the next event but only in that event.
So lets say you win 2's you will get free entry into the 2's event at the following tourny. You would still have to pay to enter 4v4.

I though that for an up and coming competitive league like PGL the goal was to get as munch GOOD people as possible to show up and promote the events.
Have it in Regina or anywhere on the west coast and none of the actually GOOD teams will show up, and less people from the general crowd are going to show up either.

Also Winnipeg is basically the reason why manitoba is slurpee capital of the world. thats a deal sealer right there. Honestly, if you want PGL to get bigger, stop asking for it in a small city.
First off, no one will go. Second, It would never get press coverage except for small local media. Third, no attendece and no press coverage = no intrest from sponsors and PGL pays for it's prizes itself... once again.
I'm saying it right now, PGL will get huge once it hits a major hub like Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal. The site has already gained 400 members in the last month since it's anouncement of a tourney in Toronto or Montreal.
PGL must become mega huge before it goes back to a city like Edmonton/calgary, in order for the fan basis to follow, sponsors to be interested, national coverage offered, pro contracts signed... it's that basic so stop being greedy children.
Get a job, save some money and take a trip to PGL.

Ya I agree with Cheeky, some of the East coast kids are so cocky its amazing. Personally there are two places I think the championships should be held and that is either Toronto or Regina. Toronto is a big city and its not to far from the center of Canada. While Regina is a smaller city compared to Toronto it is pretty much in the center of Canada and there are so many Sask. PGL players and teams that it would be a good turn-out. Honestly if PGL wants to call an event a Championship event sort of like what MLG has with Vegas then they have to fly the top teams to wherever the event is being held. If they can't get the top teams out their then it really isnt a championship event.

Lol there's no point to this thread, almost everyone is simply naming thier own city...
I think that PGL should wait and see what teams are going to be eligible to enter the Championship event, and then choose a location that is relatively close to the majority of players eligible to play in the championship event. That is if PGL is going to only allow top teams to play in the championship event, if they are going to allow anyone play then the event might as well be held in a place that had an extremely high turnout.

no.
good people make spectating interesting.. but take MLG for example.. if their goal was to have only the best teams compete... you wouldn't have much of a tournament... it would take all of a few hours on one day... the best teams would compete because hey... thats all anyone cares about, right? the best teams?
and as much as you'd like to think you're on the top of the list... you're as much a randy as everyone else here... and although PGL is trying to do something great in creating a unique league up here in canada.. the fact still remains that even the best team in canada has never placed higher than 16th at an american tournament (AMERICAN... NOT INCLUDING MLG TORONTO. THATS IN CANADA.)
so why does it matter who comes out to the events? if PGL wants to grow then the first thing they need is LOTS of people... no matter what their age or skill level... that way they get known and their name spreads through word of mouth..
also, im aware that many of you are gunna read this and have some annoying comment ready to post.. saying how bad i am at halo.. or at life.. or whatever... but unfortunately for you.. i just don't care about your opinions.. because like many of you, although you fail to realize it.. i have better things to do than try to better my life through video games..
so.. for anyone who reads this.. this is probably the last you'll hear from me..
