Music/Movie downloader recommendations?

I need help choosing a program to download music/movies for my ipod. I use iTunes now with some giftcards I have, but I want to be able to download more movies and songs for free.

I have used Limewire in the past and it messed up my computer pretty bad so I was wondering if anyone has any programs that they use/know of that they want to link me to.

Also I would like to know what people think are better. Torrents, or just programs like limewire.

Look up "BearShare Lite".

It's a peer-to-peer program, but I've never had it slow down my computer or download anything I didn't tell it to. :D

i download all my stuff from warez forums but i use rapidshare.com and have a premium account (around $15 a month)

but you want free so im probly no help :P also yeah download free is illegal but im like 95% sure rapidshare they cant track through (but of course this could change very fast)

How would I get a torrent running and what is it like? I'm just looking at downloading music and movies also. And i'll give them back i promise:p

first you need to download bittorrent.

once you download the program "bittorrent" you can download "torrents"...
the sites those guys were listing were sites that have torrents.

Torrents are just files. So if i wanted to download a movie like 'i am legend'... i could just got to google and type "I am Legend torrent"

then it will show up in the search with a bunch of torrent web sites that its found. Click on one of them from the list that the guys were using.. (isohunt, mininova, piratebay...) then it should automatically start downloading when you click on "download torrent"
