PGL needs to get some real camera's i can`t stand watching the halo clips off a webcam it is so jerky and laggy you can barely see who gets killed and who gets the kill. And it seriously gave me a headache watching it so i had to take a baby asperin cut in half and a flinstone's vitamin. No but in all seriousness it hurt my eyes after watching for like 10 minutes and i have really good eye sight.

So you guys need to get real Camera's.

Real cameras?? Do a search on the Panasonic DVX100 as well as the Sony FX1. If you don't think these are real cameras, please tell me what exact camera model you think we should purchase.

At then end of the day... the cameras are not the issue. This broadcast was done off screen. In an ideal world, we would have had direct feed setup for each screen (which we did have all the gear for) but it introduced lag into the TV's for the players. It's the TV's that seem to generate the lag on component in, so we are in the process again of buying a whole new direct feed system.

I would be open to hear your opinion on how best to accomplish this with a cost effective solution. Again, keep in mind, this live production was a last minute attempt and was merely a test run for things to come.

I'm not sure if you saw this link or not but please read it before you post more criticism. Thanks.

Sorry i didn't know. I couldn't make it to PGL Winnipeg. Cause i found out about PGL right before PGL was going to Winnipeg and couldn't save up the cash in time to get a plane ticket and a room to stay in.

But from the live prod cast of the event it seemed really laggy. And the camera's in my opinion were just like stationary and no one was controlling them. Sorry if im wrong about that.

Im looking forward to going to atleast one PGL event with a friend of mine for the 2v2 Halo 3 Bracket and if we can get 2 more we might go in for 4v4.

Sorry about that. I just didn't know.

Video guy,

I think next time this should be broadcast in HD....so if you wouldn't mind going out and spending 110 grand on a camera..

Ya no worries bro! I managed to fool most because you are right... they were stationary cameras... but there were only 2 of them. I was running literally between takes and switching the cameras focusing on every screen so we could get everyone on tape.

The web quality look you are referring to is actually how it looks once it's compressed through ustream.tv I realize it's not the highest resolution feed but it allows a live feed for very little cost. Very little cost being the key!

Appreciate your input. I keep forgetting not everyone see's the threads all the time so sorry to be a bit brash in my reply. The overall goal from everyone is that they hope PGL can continue to grow and from this standpoint, I do appreciate your concerns... I do notice exactly what you mean and the issues you raise are concerns for me as well that I'm painfully aware of. :)

Note to everyone? We are going to link the videos to our ustream account as well as youtube? so while the quality won?t be great, it should be a bit less choppy than the live broadcast? assuming the internet on your end is up to par.

sounds good, i cant wait to watch some PGL action on youtube lol cuz it will be watchable!:)

quick question, will you be doing things different in Ottawa?

THE VIDEO GUY

Yes PGL Ottawa will be quite a bit different from the broadcast point of view. We are currently looking to get 8 cameras for video and audio on each player... as well have direct feed from every player so we can switch between everyone screen.

These are a just a few things... and the production should go a bit smoother as well as there will likely be some more assistants.
