Ok seriously. there has to be a vote on this.
The pgl hd tvs; yeah there hd, yeah it looks nice, good for gaming? no.
There are tvs for 100$ that are flat screens with s-video. the definition is just slighly lower than hd, And theres no lagtime.

This is the trade off kyle uses as the defence for hd tvs. "Other games need hd so they LOOK BETTER." Shouldnt we be useing tvs that dont hinder competitive aspects of the game by throwing off aim and ultimatly reduceing gameplay to that of bungies standards.

Reasons to change:
1. Better Gameplay
2. Flat screen definition is still fine for hd games.
3. the money pgl would gain from selling current tvs and replacing them with others would save greatly on costs and provide more prize money for future tournaments.
4. players with elites do not suffer the lag problem as badly thus giving players on that console an unfair advantage.
5. players skill would be shown throughout the tournament and higher skill levels would be shown.

Thoughts, comments, ideas, links to tvs. All this will be appreciated
Oh and kyle. Srry for railing on you man, it had to be done.

That's actually a good idea...if you could find somewhere to sell all the current ones that is. Also, what size are the $100 ones you were looking at? I don't wanna have to play off of a 6" lcd :p The ones that they have now screwed up my sniping for like 3 weeks haha

My thoughts:
1.Better gameplay? what?

2.What is flat screen definition and how is it fine for HD games? In theory, all HD screens are flat...

3.Selling the televisions sets now, will no where get as close as retail value as they have been purchased for. And then having to purchase new obsolete technology for $100 will not full always justify a higher prize money and reduction of costs. Not to mention the bulk+Weight of CRT-based television sets compared to flat screens for mobility...Which I presume PGL is using.

4.I can't comment on the lag issues because I've never experienced it yet at PGL. But, there shouldn't be lag between either consoles if they are outputting the native resolution of the television set. Whether it be Component or HDMI. Now depending on the quality of the HD set, and the set PGL uses, there may be differences.

5. personally, a players skill will be shown regardless.

Standard definition is more than Slightly lower than the minimum HD resolution. 640x480 VS 1280x720.

Wouldn't increased resolution, with better detail ultimately add better aim and not reducing gameplay?

If there is a large ms delay time from the HD sets used now, which would be severe enough to hinder gameplay, then perhaps a change is models is to be discussed. However, epiccc, majority of your reasons do not justify the need to go back in time and use CRT sets.

Money is always going to be a big aspect and PGL is trying to make this a competitive league with what limited resources they have, and they are doing a great job so far as far as any Canadian league as come.

ok you guys have to tell me stuff I dont know............ Believe me we all know there is some slight lag in the screens..... to try to fix it we bought all consoles with HDMI cables and that helped quite a bit...... also we put the resolution on the TV to its maximum....... the refresh rate on the TV's is 8ms so its really not even that bad......

bottom line is we paid a lot to get this company going, the equipment, room rental and prize giveaways have put us deep in the hole for a Canadian based gaming league that truly does cater to you guys..... almost all suggestions are taken into account.......

What you can do: A) Sponsor us new TV's (not likely to happen)
B) Tell all your friends about this league, hang up posters, make these events HUGE!!!........ then we will buy top of the line TV's for all our gamers to play on

well i mean even still, the TV's do have a delay and it needs to be dealt with, im feeling though once u have a toronto area tournament this problem should be solved

The TV's definately make a significant factor on how well you play... they are definately tough to get used to with the 8ms lag. It makes a difference without a doubt. But at the same time everyone is deeling with the same problem; EXCEPT for the people who are playing on the elites. Thats the biggest unfair advantage that i've seen so far.
It would be nice to get some TV's with less delay or even just use regular consoles only or elites only.

i think changing the TV's would be the eziest factor in the problem. even if they dont get as much money for the ones they have now, PGL has a horrible reputation for laggy TVs and ppl do talk online. so the fact that once more and more tournaments happen and people play on the TVs they wont want to come back. i was so frustrated playing at Calgary

ok we do know these tv's are laggy a bit........ and believe me we will work on replacing them as we move from event to event........ switching them all to CRT tvs will not be an option being as they are big and heavy, we have to move these from city to city, and almost obsolete........ we might switch to a smaller TV to have a faster refresh rate or buy a top of the line LCDs that have a quicker refresh rate as well....... so the only options we can do to reach this goal faster is to...... get more people to come to the events....or drop the prize pot, and im sure no one wants the prize pot dropped ...... this is truly a give and take relationship here people...... we need your help on making this big so we can do everything to make this YOUR league

I haven't been to a PGL event, but I will be attending PGL Edmonton.

I think we have to be a bit patient with PGL, as much as the TVs might lag. PGL hasn't been around long and as they grow into a bigger league they will get better TVs/whatever. We will just have to struggle a few more tournaments because they are a fast growing league. MLG use to make the players bring their own TVs, remember you always have to start somewhere and mistakes will be made but as learn about these mistakes the league will only get better, it's just going through these tough times and continuing to support PGL that will make it better.

uhhh yah. lol.

i think for edmonton at least or even for winnepeg or until the problem is fixed it will be fair to either
1. Xbox 360 regulars are the only cosoles used (no elites)
2. xbox elites are the only consoles used (this case pgl would need to buy some)
3. Or an easyer alternitive if people want to they may bring there own tvs. But they are responable for them in every way and there would be rules like no tvs left at the event over night ect ect. PGL wouldnt be held liable for stolen tvs or damaged. personally. i like this option. i would be most comfortable on the tv im used to. but again this poses a fairness issue.
i just dont like how you can (somewhat) buy your way to more skill by haveing an elite.

I suggest the PGL jacks up the entry fee to $1500 than Kyle could buy top line TV's. LMAO!

I honestly didn't feel that there was much of an advantage playing on an elite... and i play on one at home with an lcd that has low response time.

Me and others would just like to use our own tvs. if the option is open everyone then i dont really see a problem.

It seems that every video game forum on the web, people are complaining about something... It must be North America's new favorite passtime.
