how exactly do you add a poll?

i saw the box to check to add a poll, but after you do that, what next? it's kind of confusing. If you've done this can you elaborate?

hit submit reply and it will take to you to a poll page

lol fair enough // i was just so confused when id select the poll option and nothing happened, and i figured if i submitted it would be gone. thanks.
