Hi. I'm an animation TV writer who created a tv show (about gaming) that I'm pitching to major networks. I'm already partnered with an A-list producer, animation director and production company. The irony is...I'm not a gamer. I was a million years ago - on vintage Nintendo stuff. So what I need is to find a VERY EXPERIENCED GAMER - someone who is familiar with all types of games in all genres so that you can help me get up to speed on what is out there - so that what I'm writing is authentic, in both game play and game speak.

It's a 3-part job. Part One: right now I will have to pay you out of pocket. I need someone to run through a bunch of different games with me, all genres, etc. so that I can learn as much as possible. I will pay you by the hour - for a bulk of time (4-5 hrs) whatever time you're comfortable playing non-stop - for a few sessions. Just enough so that I can polish my pitch and write a pilot script.

The second part of job - if series goes "into development" - I will need more gaming sessions, as above - but I'll also need you to review what I've written (scripts) and make sure it's appropriate for our target audience (boys 8-12). Basically that it`s cool enough for that audience - that the dialogue is on the mark and has 'inside jokes' - stuff that real gamers know. * I'll explain what I mean in detail later. Basically, this just needs to be a cool show. Something you'd want to watch if you were that age.

Part 3 of the job is if the series is picked up and goes into production. I would hire you as a script consultant - more gaming sessions, as needed - more script reading - but now it would be on a full time basis. Hopefully for 26 episodes - from story concept, through to outline and all scripts. I will make sure you get a tv credit, along with the hourly gaming time, plus a script consultant fee for reading & giving me notes. If you help me come up with stories - I will give you "story by" credit and share that portion of the script fee.

ALL MONEY CAN BE DISCUSSED BEFORE WE START. I can even get my agent to write up a contract for you so it's in writing and legal etc.

Ok - here's the job requirements:

- YOU MUST LIVE IN TORONTO OR GTA - because we need to do the gaming sessions in person. The rest of job (consulting) can be with email.

- Your age is not as important as your skill level, but I would prefer that you be 18+ - so I'm dealing with someone mature who is responsible and can handle deadlines - because if the show gets picked up I will need to rely on you. If you are under 18, I might make an exception - but only if you are mature and have crazy skills & know a lot of games. BUT I will need to meet a parent or guardian first, to make sure this is cool with them too - because I need to spend time with whoever I hire, and I need to make sure they know I'm legit. I will provide my tv credits, agent # and list of references for them, etc.

- You need to have played a lot of games -in different genres - you should consider yourself a pro, especially online.

- You need to be "fast" - and be able to move through levels fairly quickly - so that we aren't wasting tons of time on just one game. I need to learn as much as possible, as fast as possible. :)

- You need to be able to explain what is going on - but also be able to explain why some games suck and why some games are excellent - what makes a game great to play vs. frustrating. You need to have played a lot of games so that you can also identify what is a "cliche" in games (because I need to spoof some of those common cliches). (Example: Family Guy is funny because they use so many REFERENCES that everyone knows - so everyone is "in on the joke".) I need to use gaming references in the same way. I need to write authentically and enter the gaming world so that a kid watching beleives that the writer (me) is a GAMER - that the characters are behaving the way they behave when playing a game, etc.

- please provide a list of the games you are best at...and a list of other games you've played - just so I can see the variety. You don`t have to list 1000 games. (hopefully you've played that many! haha) Seriously, just list maybe 50 ... 10 you`re good at and 40 you`ve tried. I'm looking for versatility more than someone who is "only" good at HALO. You can excel at one game, but it doesn't help me if you only play war games...but not others...because I need to cover ALL genres.

- convince me that "YOU" are the person I should hire! :) Explain why you love gaming so much. Explain why you think this would be a cool job. I ask this because I want to make sure you're going to have fun. I don't want this to be a drag for you.

In return, I promise to pay you decent money - with increasing amounts at each phase. I promise to give you proper TV screen credits. * Bonus: If you like animation, I can teach you how to write TV scripts too. It's a lucrative career, to be a television writer. So if you are a 'wannabe' writer - that is even better. Because you might find this job more interesting.

Note: full time work as a consultant is not a real full time job - it's a few hours a week, but lucrative for a few hours work. So if you go to school, or have a regular job, that's fine. This would be bonus money --- to buy more games! :)

Thanks! Not sure if you want to respond to the thread - or to me personally. I'm new to this site, so I have NO IDEA how to do that? I think you just click on my name and send a personal message...??? I'm sure you know.

sorry this was so long - I just tried to cover everything so that I'm not bombarded with questions. If you have questions though...ask...

DO NOT GIVE ME ANY PERSONAL INFO JUST YET - ONLY PROVIDE THE INFO I'VE ASKED ABOVE. (GIVE ME YOUR AGE, A LIST OF GAMES YOU ARE GOOD AT AND TELL ME WHY I SHOULD HIRE YOU.) IF YOU SEEM LIKE THE RIGHT PERSON I WILL CONTACT YOU VIA THIS SITE AND GIVE YOU MY CONTACT INFO.

Thanks,

This seems like an awesome experience. I would love to help but I am not 18+ and am not from Toronto. You might have a better chance if you post this on the ESC Forums (http://forums.escircuit.com/) or the Halophax Forums (http://www.phaxgaming.com/forumz/) which are both active Canadian competitive gaming leagues.

Good Luck!
