In the recent Bungie weekly update lukems leaked out a few numbers related to Hit Points and Damage, most notably Body HP, Shield HP, BR damage, and Melee damage. I did some basic math to come up with some numbers and stats. Here they are:
The Basic Numbers:
Total Hit Points: 115
Body: 45
Shields: 70
Body HP starts to recharge: after 10 secs
Body HP Recharge Rate: 9hp/sec
On the Body HP Recharge:
If you are down to 1 body HP, it will take right at about 15 seconds to recharge your health. Thats 10 seconds for it to start to rechage plus 44/9 (44 HP divided by the 9 hp/sec recharge rate) seconds for the health you have to regain.
Damage:
MM BR: 6 (18/burst)
MLG BR: 6.6 (19.8/burst)
MM Melee: 70
Brute Melee: 72
MLG Melee: 77
Difference Threshhold: If a player has a greater than 26.5 HP difference with their opponent then they will win the Melee without dying (in a simultaneous Melee situation)
Some Basic Calculations:
BR Damage by shots up till death w/Melee:
MLG 1 shot: 19.8 +Melee: 96.8
MLG 2 shot: 39.6 +Melee: 116.6
MLG 3 shot: 59.4 +Melee: 136.4
MLG 4 shot: 79.2 +Melee: 156.2
MLG 5 shot: 99 +Melee: 176
MLG 6 shot: 118.8
MM 2 shot: 36 +Melee: 106
MM 3 shot: 54 +Melee: 124
MM 4 shot: 72 +Melee: 142
MM 5 shot: 90 +Melee: 160
MM 6 shot: 108 +Melee: 178
MM 7 shot: 126
Some things to derive from the above numbers with the coming AU:
As the weekly update explained, when two players melee each other within 3 frames of each other they will enter what was described as a "contest" whereby either one player wins (if they have greater than 26.5 more HP than the opponent) or Both die, or of course both live if not enough damage is delivered by either to kill.
Now, taking this into account, if you scrutinize the damage charts above, you will realize that in order to "win" a simultaneous melee you will have to be 2 shots ahead of your opponent, one wont be enough. This is assuming both players are using BRs and noone has taken nade damage or any other outside damage. Here is an example (based on MLG settings):
P1: Has 2 shots on P2 = 39.6 damage
p2: Has 3 shots on p1 = 59.4 damage
Now both go in for the Melee. Theorhetically P1 has the potential to deal 116.6 damage, and p2 136.4 damage, each enough to kill. Now, if p2 has more than 26.5 greater HPs than p1, he will win the melee and not die. But this isnt the case: 59.4-39.6=19.8 (not enough to break the 26.5 threshhold). Therefore, both players will die. If P2 was one more shot up on p1 the difference would be 39.6 (79.2-39.6) and would be enough to win the melee and survive.
Hypthothesis? Look for lots of double deaths in MLG play after the new AU.
