What do you think of the new forum layout?

Hey guys, what do you think about the new forum layout? I have mixed feelings. It takes longer to load for me, and I think the other forums were less confusing. Everyones signatures aren't working either, but I guess that this is a step in the right direction for PGL. What do you guys think?

I don't like the look of it so far, although I'm sure that I will in time. It's just so bland and looks like tons of other forums, whereas PGL's old ones were unique. Maybe if the forum options were edited so that the colors were similar to the old forums?

With that said, all of those new features sound great, and are very needed.

So this is what PGL was working on. Good to see, looks good. Although it is a bit confusing but it is different and needs getting used to, which is to be expected. Although I wish there was a link for "lans" so people could post up when they are hosting local lans, and to possibly have a live stream of lans from the community.... in time I guess.

my suggestion to spice it up? maybe a background and a little colour =]

aaand i was exploring, and in the forum leaders section there is a lot of unactive mods/admins. i know you've buffed up cheeky and Puppy by the looks of it. maybe its time for like 2-4 more mods? just suggesting.

also, LOVING this whole new 'updating' thing that PGL has goin on =] haha. Good job.. really.. If you think we are unappreciative, I hope i speak for everyone when i say a HUGE THANK YOU!.



EDITS: Juuuust wondering if the homepage will be done up as well? and the auto-activation is fixed? thats cool.

CHELACK'S IDEAS
1. Video Page
- Redo the Video section. Record video from the point of view of players and upload games/ rounds so everyone can analyze game play.
- Have a Live Lan Feed. A live feed that the community can use to stream their own local lans so the rest of the PGL community can watch. Same thing goes with tournament feeds.
2. Team Page
- Have a regularly updated Team Page in which displays all the teams and players with their points. Maybe have stats from the tournaments.
- Free Agent section in which free agents can post to find teams. (I know there is a forum page but this would make things more legit and easier for FA's to find teams)
3. Blogs
- I think this is in the works but it is needed to keep the community active. Plus it's just fun to do.
4. Home Page
- Once again; I believe this is in the works but it would be nice if it were updated.
- Hopefully consisting more than just FORUMS. What I'm getting at is have for example: Forums, Teams, Events, Video, Blogs, Community Calender, and Game Reviews. Each of which is REGULARLY UPDATED (not every 4 months like the Uncharted 2 link which has been there way too long. Why isn't there even a Halo Reach link there?)
5. Calender
- Post more things than just PGL events and birthdays
- Have a system where a community member can inform moderators about local lans and scrims that could be posted up as well
6. Online Tournaments
- I may be out of date about this but is there any word on the gamebattles situation?
- There should be a whole other section where teams can compete year round for an annual prize by playing in online tournaments. One grand prize for four mix amps? Something small but still big enough that brings more people into the community and have good competitive matches. Example: Have teams mail in (or paypal er whatever) $200, they become registered as a team in an online event, grand prize is $400, the rest goes to the league. This could also work great for future Charity events (would make PGL look SUPER GOOD).
- Actually, why even bring gamebattles into this? Why cant we have our own exclusive PGL Online League? It's pretty simple to set up and just have one, maybe two guys over looking whats happening.
7. Live Chat
- Forums are great for people to keep in touch. But why not have a live chat section on the side, showing who's online, doing what and just talk it up. Maybe have a "topic of the day" and people just discussing things.
8. About Us
- This also may be in the works but IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF PGL!
- The only thing people are seeing on this site is kids bashing each other on the forums, not very attractive when parents are wanting to send their 16 yr. old kids across Canada to a tournament when all they see is people posting negative comments about each other. Mod's and Admin's do help decrease bashing, but they aren't always on so bashing is still a problem and everyone can see it.
Thats my ten cents for now. I am not bashing anybody or anything, this is just what I would like to see in the future to make this site great and get this league BOOMING! But I am in LA at the momment and should be in the sun, so I'm off.

Chelack I talked to a couple guys who actually really wanna start up a Canadian Gamebattles type thing, maybe we could get them to make it for PGL and put them in charge of that? We have lots of sweet ideas that would really do wonders for this league, sad thing is... they will probably fall on deaf ears. Perhaps 'something better' may appear with all these great ideas put to work lol hmm...

CHELACK that was an unreal post, too bad the ideas may be heard by deaf ears as stated by Boorazzle.

So many PGL members are very clever people, but unfortunately their ideas are never realized by the people who have the most to gain from them. (the owners of PGL.)

Earlier this year, or maybe even last year DrummingGuy and myself approached PGL with the concept of mini events where Pro teams cannot compete. We did this waaay before anyone was even talking about the MLG Combines. PGL told us he'd get back to us ASAP, which he never did, and now we see MLG capitalizing on something PGL could have done first. More importantly we see PGL failing to capitalize on an idea that was community created. CHELACK is bursting with huge ideas like this and I hope the league can take advantage of it soon rather than wasting the money making, league expanding weapon that is CHELACK.

Last I checked the games were Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Street Fighter 4 (Boo and I briefly talked about NHL 10 being vetoed out, only because the "tournament" was going to be way too big and not enough time/ stations would be available. But that was 1 1/2 months ago when hype was high...). Do you guys agree to changing the games listed in the forums? For that matter, do you agree with only having Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Street Fighter 4 as our main focus on competitive games?

yeah just do those 3 games,
i dont see many other competitive xbox games that would bring out a big crowd anymore.
gears is dead for competition IMO,
and NHL 10 would be good,
but the intrest wouldnt be too too high.

MLG is considering dropping Gears, nuff said.

There's almost no RSV2 teams in Canada.

At least in Edmonton SF4 apparently has a huge following so it would be a good idea.

Shadowrun is just about dead online, nuff said.

Super Smash was a hit in the past, and only used two stations I believe and it worked. (3 day tourney tho)

Modern Warfare 2 will be a mess if you try and LAN it, it would have to be done on XBL (and it should say that on the PGL Ed poster so people aren't turned away by thinking that it is a LAN tournament.)

NHL has never brought in great numbers in my experience, I think Madden would do a lot more if you feel the need for a sports game.

PGL is dumb.....i googled it and within 5 seconds found a site that sells the EXACT thing for 150 dollars. Talking to invalidHTML, it would take 3 months to write a script.
