So CHELACK and Boorazzle have recently said that if the community can convince them that having the event at the end of April would result in a better turnout then they would. Therefore, this is a thread/petition to dicuss the dates of PGL Edmonton as a community.

agreed, lots of people are in finals around this time, even boorazzle himself.. and me. So would make it a lot easier to get practice in before the event, not just rushing afterwards to study. end of april. Honestly just think Chelack and boo are just trying to get the tourney out fast for us, but yes end of april seems better.

I'm not gonna lie, I have a personal bias here as I would love to see omeqa be able to make it so him and Plur and their unnamed 3rd could win the tourney. Also, it would almost be like a kick off to the summer for us university guys. From the sounds of things, we would lose more people by having it April 9-11 than end of April. Whats the actual date you guys would want?

PS you guys would owe me a beer when we go out on the saturday. EDIT and Chelack one too

I would loooove to see them win :)

End of the month i'll be there, start of april = no chance.
It's hard getting people to take one night of studying for finals, there's no way i could see people dedicating a whole weekend (especially not out of towners) to video gaming, not if they're actually dedicated to their future haha.

I think end of April would be for the best. In my experience most of the competitors are 18+ and many of them in post secondary, asking people to take an entire weekend during the peak of exam season does seem counter productive, no matter the prize pool you cant expect people to take that much time away from studying. Especially for our traveling competitors, that's likely an extra day or two out of their week.

We will have to discuss this over Christmas break, our goal is to have everything finalized and officially announced on January 8, 2010.

Unless i heard wrong i think they said they were going to try and have it all finalized by the start of January.

I think the turnout would be a lot better if it was on a long weekend. And traveling teams don't have to miss school/work.
