Video capturing program

Well the title is basically my question so what capture Program do you guys use or is there a free one i should use (Because Windows Media really is starting to piss me off.) Thanks. There maybe a 1 month for who ever gets me the best free one. (btw if it helps i have an old crappy ATI capture card and im using a windows to capture then a Mac to edit with Final Cut:D)

I just use windows movie maker, becuase you can make it high quality when you record it, and save it to ur computer. If u would like more info, hit me up on XBL

if you use windows XP, then if can capture. If you play around w/ it for long enought, you can get some pretty decent quality. Sadly, Vista wont let you capture with movie maker.

Well im using Sony Vegas 9, for capturing/editing, and i make my special animation/effects in after effects, with the video copilot plug ins, I currently use a dazzle pro video card, but i will be upgrading to a black magic HD capture card for My amercian ladder next event. In terms of resolution you problobly know that if you want hd go for 1200x720 30FPS but 720x480 29.9FPS is still pretty good, remember to have a good pc to record on or the video might get choppy :)
