This is a thread for people that want to see a new seeding system implemented, specifically SReid's system. Using SReid's system PGL Points would actually be used for something, but players without points are still given the option to earn an open seed through competition, the FFA section of the tournament. Essentially, players with points are seeded based on which teams have the most combined points per event, and unseeded players are seeded based on their performance in FFA.

For example, let's say this is the FFA finals:

Cheeky (On 1st placed team according to points)
Mars (On 2nd placed team according to points)
Unseeded Player 1
Unseeded Player 2
Unseeded Player 3
Unseeded Player 4

And these are the final results of the FFA Finals:

Unseeded Player 1
Unseeded Player 2
Mars
Cheeky
Unseeded Player 3
Unseeded Player 4

Although Unseeded Player 1 and Unseeded Player 2 out placed Mars and Cheeky, the 4v4 seeds would be as follows:

Cheeky
Mars
Unseeded Player 1
Unseeded Player 2
Unseeded Player 3
Unseeded Player 4

This is because Cheeky holds the 1st amount of points, Mars the 2nd amount of points and then the unseeded players which have no points earn their seeds based on how they place in FFA.

Please use this thread to post what you think of this system and whether or not you think it should be used for future PGL events.

Points really need to seed teams, it is logical that if you place top 5 at a prior event you should get rewarded by playing lower placing/unproven teams in the early rounds and it might just give people incentive to go to more events and enter everything rather than just 4v4, both making PGL money. If points don't mean anything it makes PGL look bad in my opinion. Also Cheeky/Sreid good job on the system I like it because now if you have never attended an event you still have a shot at a good seed through FFA. It's fair for everyone

Beauty. People would actually think we are challenged if we didn't use points towards anything.

Might as well.

What's the point of having points if youre not using them to seed? Aren't 'points' technically from the original term 'Seeding Points', so shouldn't we use them to seed?

I've yet to encounter anyone who thinks this is a bad idea. This is perhaps the only thing that everyone in the community can agree on.
