i voted for vertical before reading the op... idk which way stays cooler but i keep mine vertical for most occasions.

lol i got the red ring 2 times now so i did some resurch and it is kept coolest horizontal. when it is verticle the main vent is mostly covered. Also make sure it is not in a entertainment unit or ontop of carpet. i keep mine o a shoe box with the top off so that everysingle air vent is working 100% lol

I just trust horizontal more.
Thats how ever other console has been for me, so why change?

I don't know which way it stays cooler but i voted for horizontal because i find it safer that way! My bud bud accidentally knocked my box over and it broke the disc inside when i used to have it vertical, since then i have had mine horizontal.
