Ok guys I'm about to announce the next event, but first before I announce where and when it is I have a quick question concerning some things.
For anyone who uses capture cards or whatever, is it possible to say hook up 8 capture cards(or whatever will work) to the xbox's capture the games and then right after hook them up to a computer or whatever you have to and put the matches up on our site as either a link to wherever you can view them on our site as a youtube video or ya however you do it. I hope this is clear, send me your input on how to do this or the best way to do it.

It would be quiet a bit of work because you also likely would need eight computers, or a few powerfull ones with multi-jacks since most capture cards use a U.S.B. drive. I would pitch in my pinacle if you need it. Oh, and all the computers need all the downloaded software, so your gonna have to do alot of preping.

I run the company but ok. So you don't think this is a simple solution to no live stream?

yo. get capture cards and a good editing software. then, go to a place that supports live streams, such as blogtv . then use the editing software to get all 8 players shown at one time, or be able to switch thru. then from thereset up a show on blog tv for ex. and link it to the pgl homepage. there viewers will be able to see the live games from the pgl website, or the actual website its self.
hope this helps

Hm so there's no easy way to upload them like a youtube video or to a site that does it like youtube?

It would be easy if you uploaded just one persons perspective of the game or even a captured replay to youtube. It would take some serious time to edit all 8 together.

I have a pinnicle (regular resolution), and I'm also getting a DV converter so I can hook up my xbox to my mac and record my games in HD (I'm using this for montages). But I think it could work if we record the games to my mac (via imovie or final cut) and then post it on the website! Only problem is I will only have one converter and I can only record one game at a time. Now if you wanna have 8 separate views at once, you need 8 DV converter's or Pinnicles. Pinnicles cost about $100 (regular resolution), and DV converters cost from $160- $500 each and they record in HD. I'm also going to ask my cousin who has been in the electronic/ entertainment buisness for years now to see what kind of equiptment and setups we could use that is high in quality, but not outragiously expensive.

I'm trying to see what I can do in case we don't have a live stream but still give some kind of PGL experience.

Yo G-Train, do you know what set up video guy had at Saskatoon and what equipment he used? My cousin is finding ways to get a live feed setup and all he needs is just a bit more info about the way video guy did his setup!

What you could do is have everyone save their games, and then when they get home, have a few people go around capping all the GPs.

OK, i found a way to capture the vids, I have a "MEDIAGATE". It's basically a 500 GB external hard drive that can record gameplay in really good qualty, it's not HD, but it's almost as good. Now, the only way to record the games is to save them all onto a hard drive and then record them to the mediagate, then upload it to the internet. Just so I'm perfectly clear, THIS IS NOT LIVE STREAM; but it works, and the quality is great!

How much would that cost?

The MEDIAGATE cost me $150 (I bought it from a work friend), they sell for about $200 per unit, plus a hard drive (various costs but it depends on what size of hard drive you need). Mine is a 500GB and it costs approx. $120. But I think we should try it out in Regina with my MEDIAGATE and see how it works out.
