So let's say that I place first in every event, do I have a total of 1000 points or something, or do I have 500 in 4v4, 500 in 2v2, and 100 in FFA?

Basically are all your points from 4v4/2v2/FFA added together to give you one number?

yes that is correct for your individual score

i think... with the 2v2 it kinda makes seeding a little bit harder to understand... but i'm pretty sure seeding is total points and not individual bracket points.

we are wondering how to register for the tournament in Saskatoon.

PGL
01-27-2008, 04:32 PM
we are revamping the new site now, we were hoping to have it up this weekend with registration but have to move a few things around still..... we can launch before the new site goes up if people are eager but we figured we would just have it all up at the same time..... should be tomorrow night..... gives everyone 12 days to register

so for the points wat do you do with them. Like is it going to be like MLG where they have a point tracknig system and it tells you which players have the most points and stuff?

And is there anything you can do with the points? Like buying your way into the next tourney and stuff like that.

The top teams/players based on points at the end of the season will be invited to the finals for the big money.

Yeah making every tourney would be big help. But they`re getting back what they put into the league in a sense.

You do want to have dedicated teams representing your community though.

ok guys I think we have come up with a better point system........ we piggybacked the start off another league using the same kinda concept but find that a high amount of points does not really give a good indication of where a player stands...... instead we will use an average placing at events instead categorizing people that have attended the same number of events together......... I think this will show more of how players place in their desired events rather than getting points per event.....

Well here is how I think it should work. This is honestly the best way to balance points.

1. Have a set amount of points each individual player gets for the event, like you do. You wou;dn't even need to change a thing.

2. Take out the rule where you have to keep 2 original players

3. When a player joins a new team his points are tranferred to that teams points.

So say Jimmy and Robbie are teaming (they're really good btw) and they place 1st (500 pts apiece) and 2nd (400 points apiece) so they each have 900. They're team would have 1800 points not 900 like it is now. Then say Robbie left and Jimmy teamed with someone else with no points. The team would then have 900 points.

This is how it is done by many leagues and is really the only fair way to distribute points.

I like the point system, but instead of having just 1 opener, it should show the whole season, Just a suggestion :D

Although your right that a high amount of points doesn't always indicate the best team I don't think having an average placing type point system is the best solution either mostly because I think teams that show dedication to PGL by going to more events should get some sort of an advantage. I think if you just maybe made a point system that was more heavily favoured to higher placings it would solve some of these problems. For example lets say instead of having 500 points for first 450 for second 400 for third. Have it more like 500 for first 250 for second 100 for third. That way even if a team were to go to every event they would still have a hard time catching up with the better placed teams. Also if you wanted to for the championships you could have points decide who gets to go to the championships and then have average placings determine seeds.

So lets say I placed 5th in the 4v4s and 2nd in the FFA in Montreal, I would have 455 points then individually?

We do keep track of points
for some reason we don't have them posted but we still know who won what.
So we do have points tracked

Like we've said in many other threads
we have them but for some reason they weren't posted
they must be in the PGL trailer which is in Toronto
they probably wont be posted until after Toronto

I think that is how the points should be ran. I don't think anyone goes to every event. This would probably work better considering each event has a new crowd.
