That show on CBC? ya man do it. go on the show kyle and ask for a 500,000 $ dollar invesment for 35 percent of the company. Then we could have a huge tourney and use that money for advertising and such.

This could be that jump Start PGL needs.

Every company has a 5 year plan, or should. >_<

U know I was thinkin that last time I watched the show. The fact that you have some corporate sponsorship already would be a huge plus. The only thing is you would need to outline how you are gonna make money... Not the players but how your gonna pay yourself and make your livelyhood from it. Those guys dont care about plans and people if there is not alot of money to be made.

doesn't sound like a bad idea and there is ALOT of money to be actually made and seeing how a lot of Canadian gamers are all missing out on MLG. He could basically show how successful MLG is and that Canada does not have a league of its own and that there are thousands of people who would attend. THOUSANDS. It would basically be a big success by itself..But 35 or 30 % is gay

What you want 2 sell is HOW many kids of our generation play video games.
Now we have big numbers. Next step is how do your turn those numbers into PGL money making numbers. see what i mean?

LMAO, $500,000? Where the hell is that going to get you?

Listen... when MLG had a private investor come in, the guy dropped $30 Million into it. $30 Million... Half a Mill won't do shit.

For those of you wondering how to succeed the the world of profesional competive video gaming, you might want to start with baby steps, like reading Sundance's and Sepso's blog.

Dude, it's actually a good idea it's just the amount is small. Think about it in order for this whole thing to run smooth, you need about 10 guys, from website programers to video editers and GFX designers, sales people to accountants, you'd need good tallent with a love for gaming.

I was told at MLG Medowlands that Gamebattles has a staff of 50 people in some office in New York. Thats GB now, so I'm guessing PGL would take 10 guys working fulltime towards the common goal and in 2-3 years time it would take off.

Now those people need sallerys of say $50,000 just to be able to live with a house and family under their belts, so your $500,000 is gone first year, no events even paid for or prizes given out.

MLG is only able to do the things they do because of the $30 Mil in the bank. Hell, if I had $30 Mil in the bank Order66 would be as big as MLG in a matter of months, lol!

But you have to think about most canadian things compared to american things, sure there is tons of kids in canada who want to make money playing video games but the pgl is like the cfl compared to the nfl. Sure you can make some money playing it but if your serious about being pro you play in the states.

Now i personally dont like the states and would love to play pro anything in canada over the states but until we have a population like theres its gonna be hard to create a league as good as mlg. I think it would be best if the pgl just merged with MLG so that there would be more mlg tournies in canada.

They'd most likely just expand rather than merge...unless PGL was extremely established in Canada.

i think having pgl and mlg separated is better because not as much competition

That doesnt make much sense because if they were merged, there would be no competition. Since they arent, and if PGL does get really big,
then MLG will get scared, and try to compete with PGL,

soo yeeeah:confused:

No ask for like 100,000 for like 20% this would be enough to succeed. Added on with the team pass sales you can be probably wealthy pretty soon. BTW there is a guy Kevin O'Leary who is interested in like technologic side of business but if he thinks the idea is stupid he'll trash it with a vengance. Good Luck if you try!!!

lmao // nice.

we need (take everything i say as constructive please / just an opinion):

- tell ppl straight up that prizes will vary. It is what it is. People really only get upset when their expections are let down. Advertise an "atleast" amount in prizes to be won, and leave it at that. Take a percentage out of the registration, untill the tourney's cover the prize money / sponsors / w/e. ((this is just an idea, and works for local competitors especially..

- you could give some sort of swag away, just to feel like you got something. going across the country and getting nothing kinda sucks.

- toronto has to be huge. so do the following, pick a day and stick to it. The sooner you get the memo out that there is a tourney the better. People need time to prepare for tourneys, noone wants to go in unprepared. People also need time to make accomidations. Also on that note, if you can get some sort of deal going with a hotel, that helps sometimes for people to get a place to stay.

- have atleast shirts available to buy, and some cheap food, pop, w/e. Some kind of stand to buy things at. It doesn't have to be delux but atleast like coolaid and chips haha. Who doesn't want coolaid and chips?

- the tourneys need to be more relaxed. A schedual is necessary. Have the day laid out with events and make sure to add the allowed time for breaks in between events. With (perferably) a lunch break, have the schedual up so that people know when their event will be so they can plan their day accordingly, and the day works smoothly. I mean obveously this will vary a bit, bit it would be good to have something to roughly follow.

- focus on particular games. at the next tourney don't worry about COD (no offense to anyone) just have halo and smash, and maybe a round robin of gears2 for kicks at lunch or something but don't incorporate it or any other games quite yet..

- once torontos finished (hopefully its a positive day for you), it might be smart to focus in saskatchewan, alberta, and manitoba. this is where pgl is strong, and branch out as pgl grows (and toronto if it goes well).

- advertise it as a place to get a good tourney in in the off season of mlg.

Matt.

ps. i might be able to help you out a bit with website / graphics w/e.. im taking a bunch of related stuff in school and if it wouldn't be anything you use, some of the stuff might be good for rough drafts to get your ideas across.

the pgl is like the cfl compared to the nfl.

k well if that's the case what's wrong with how the cfl does? personally im a fan. and I bet the guy in charge is filthy rich. there's no need to merge. there's money in canada as well.

how about suing these guys for copyright infringement.

http://www.pglcircuit.com/

professional gaming league == pro gaming league

and matt, the cfl gets funding from the NFL as a scouting program.

I did an assignment early in the year reguarding this issue, have a look it explains the fine details.

imo suing drops to their level.. but at least get them forced to change their name somehow.

Matt.
